
Isaac Malkin
Violinist Isaac Malkin received his training in Moscow, Russia. His exceptional background derives from the rich tradition of the Russian violin school founded by Leopold Auer. This noble tradition encompasses technical perfection, beautiful tone, and passionate music making. Jascha Heifetz, Nathan Milstein, and Misha Elman are among the outstanding performers whose virtuosity represents this heritage.
Isaac Malkin studied with Akiva Zemel, Felix Andrievsky, Mark Lubotsky and Vladimir Spivakov. He is the author of a violin method which emphasizes ways of correcting specific technical problems. He has achieved recognition as a successful and highly sought-after pedagogue across the globe. As such, he has given numerous master classes in conservatories around the world, including in Austria, Germany, Finland, Italy, Norway, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, USA, China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and others. Isaac Malkin’s students have become teachers, soloists, conductors, members of chamber ensembles and orchestras, and are prize-winners of international competitions. He has been highly praised by internationally known violinists and teachers such as Felix Andrievsky, Boris Belkin, Joseph Gingold, Henry Roth, Vladimir Spivakov, and Isaac Stern.
Isaac Malkin founded the Academy of Strings at the University of California at San Diego, the Academy of Music Festival at Ramapo College in New Jersey, and is the founding and artistic director of the Academy of Music Festival in Nyack, New York. Other teaching engagements have included the Israeli conservatory in Tel Aviv, University of California at San Diego, State University of New York at Purchase, the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College (City University of New York), among others. He has served, and continues to serve, on the faculty of many international festivals. Professor Isaac Malkin has been a member of the Artist Faculty of the Manhattan School of Music in New York since 1989.
