
Grigory Alumyan
Grigory Alumyan is one of the most versatile and expressive cellists of his generation. As a soloist, orchestral musician, chamber music partner, and pedagogue, he combines technical brilliance with profound musicality and a compelling stage presence. With his extensive experience and passion, he conveys artistic excellence while inspiring the next generation of musicians.
His early career was marked by significant competition successes that highlighted his exceptional expressiveness and virtuosity, earning him international recognition.
Since 2005, Alumyan has served as principal cellist of the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, playing a key role in shaping the sound of this distinguished and versatile orchestra, renowned for its performances in opera, symphonic concerts, chamber music, and innovative educational programs. In parallel, he is a founding member of the Beethoven Trio Bonn (2004), an ensemble that performs internationally, has released six critically acclaimed recordings—including several world premieres—and has been nominated for the Opus Klassik Award.
Alumyan also serves as artistic director of the concert series “Beethoven Trio im Leoninum”, enriching Bonn’s musical life with innovative programs and distinguished guest artists. Since 2023, the Beethoven Trio Bonn has acted as the official chamber music partner of the International Telekom Beethoven Competition Bonn, awarding a chamber music prize to outstanding young pianists.
As a pedagogue, Alumyan is firmly established: he teaches at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, guiding young musicians on their path to a professional career. In 2025, he was also invited to the renowned Carl Flesch Academy, where he shared his artistic expertise and passion with international emerging talents. His teaching is characterized by the same artistic authenticity and intensity that defines his performance on stage.
His concert activity has taken him to major international venues and festivals, collaborating with distinguished artists such as Martha Argerich, Christian Zacharias, Wolfgang Meyer, Ulf Hoelscher, Gabriela Montero, and Nicholas Angelich.
