The Master Class Program 2012:
The Festival
The
Eilat International Chamber Music Festival is one of Israel's most
exciting spring music festivals. The Master Class program offers
students and young performers from around the world an opportunity to
learn with the world's leading artists and renowned professors. The
vibrant and stimulating atmosphere encourages an exchange of musical
ideas and creation of new contacts and friendships.
The Courses
This year in the Sixth Eilat Festival, the master classes will take place from 17th to 26th of March 2011 and
will focus on string instruments, piano and clarinet. The classes are
aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students at a college level to
further develop their musicianship and improve their technical skills.
During the course each student will receive four lessons, each lesson
one hour long. An experienced pianist will be allocated to each class.
Students must bring all relevant scores, including piano parts, for the
classes and the concerts.
* The administration of the festival retains
the right not to open a particular class if it fails to reach its
required minimum number of applicants.

Special Seminars
Students participating in master classes are invited to attend the following events:
Cello Workshop with world famous cellist Pieter Wispelwey.
"Russian Violin School: Myth and Reality"- Lecture by internationally renowned violinist and conductor Eduard Schmieder.
Student Concerts
Several student concerts will be held during the festival, providing selected students an opportunity to perform in public.
Competitions
This
year students are invited to participate in two special competitions
for piano and for strings. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of each
competition in the sum of €700 for first place, €500 for second place,
and €300 for third place.
J.S. Bach String Competition
This
year the festival will take place on Bach's birthday, March 21st. The
String competition will be held on this day as a birthday celebration.
Students wishing to compete in this event are required to prepare one of
the following works by Bach: a sonata or partita for solo violin, or a
suite for solo cello or viola.
Franz Liszt Piano Competition
2011
marks the 200 year anniversary of the birth of Liszt. The piano
competition will be held on March 23rd in celebration of this
anniversary. Students wishing to compete in this event are required to
prepare a twenty-minute program that may include any Liszt works for
solo piano.
Chamber Music
Special
Chamber music sessions may be held during the festival for additional
charge. These events will involve students and teachers and will
culminate in concert performance. More information will be available at a
later stage.
Attendance
The
teaching timetable will be available at the beginning of the festival
or shortly beforehand. Students are encouraged to attend the whole
festival. Active students are welcome to attend all courses as auditors.
Students will also be offered free entrance to the festival concerts
based on available seats.
Fee and Accommodation
Fee
for participation in the master class program is 2,000 New Israeli
Shekels. Students will be asked to pay a deposit during the registration
process, and the remainder will be paid upon arrival in Eilat.
Students will be accommodated in double rooms at the four-star Golden
Tulip Privilege Hotel in Eilat, on a half-board basis. Accommodation fee
is 270 NIS per person per night, for a minimum of five nights. Single
rooms are also available for 500 NIS per night, for a minimum of five
nights.
Prices do not include any form of transportation, arrival will be at the expense of the student.
EILAT – the city, arrival and departure
You
may find more information about the city of Eilat and the festival at
www.eilat-festival.com Students will receive concessionary or free
tickets to some of Eilat's main attractions, such as the Dolphin Reef.
Details for arrival and departure will be provided as relevant at a
later stage.
