Pauline Dupuy (France) – voice, double bass
Michael Wookey (UK) – guitar, voice, other instruments
Contrebrassens is a meeting between a woman, a double bass and one of France’s greatest songwriters – Georges Brassens. Pauline Dupuy’s singing of Brassens’ songs highlights their melodies and musical phrases. Here, the double bass, generally considered an accompanying instrument, occupies centre stage. Generously bowed, the instrument sings along with Dupuy’s voice, throwing new and surprising light on the meaning of these songs.
