Displaying exquisitely detailed playing, fine intonation and multi-faceted homogeneity, the Goldmund Quartet has been performing Classical- and modern string quartet literature for over a decade. Studies were under Günther Pichler (Alban Berg Quartet) and the Artemis Quartet (Berlin), with master classes with the Hagen-, Borodin-, Belcea-, Ysaÿe- and Cherubini Quartets, Ferenc Rados, Eberhard Feltz and Alfred Brendel.
Winning the 2018 International Wigmore Hall String Competition and the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, the Goldmund Quartet was named Rising Stars of the 2019/20 season by the European Concert Hall Organization and laureates of the Jürgen Ponto-Foundation. The Nippon Music Foundation awarded the Quartet with a full set of Stradivari instruments.
Recitals have taken the Quartet to prestigious chamber music venues and festivals in Europe, Canada, China, Australia and the US. Chamber music partners include Jörg Widmann, Ksenija Sidorova, Pablo Barragan, Alexey Stadler and Wies de Boevé.
The Quartet’s debut CD (NAXOS, 2016) of works by Joseph Haydn, garnered enthusiastic reviews worldwide. A second recording – Shostakovich Quartets – was released on Berlin Classics in 2018.
