The NFM Choir was founded by Andrzej Kosendiak in 2006 as a resident ensemble of the Wrocław Philharmonic. Agnieszka Franków-Żelazny has served as artistic director since the choir’s inception. A leading ensemble on the Polish choral scene, it is known for its a-cappella repertoire, performances of major oratorios, operas and symphonic music. Under many great conductors, the NFM Choir has performed over 300 concerts in Europe and the UK and in international festivals. The recipient of prestigious prizes, it was the first Polish choir to appear at the BBC Proms. International collaborations have included those with the Budapest Festival Orchestra, B’Rock Orchestra, Gabrieli Consort & Players, Il Giardino Armonico, Kammerorchester Basel, and the NDR Sinfonieorchester.
Important in the NFM Choir’s discography is a series of award-winning recordings with Paul McCreesh on his Winged Lion label, discs of music by Bob Chilcott and three discs of Polish choral music. March 2017 saw the release of Haydn’s The Seasons with Paul McCreesh, with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, under Giovanni Antonini, in 2019.
